Paul Brooks President and Founder

Following a career as a retail pharmacist and several years working in management for a global pharmaceutical manufacturer, Paul founded The Brooks Group. Along with serving a number of clients, including dozens of the most successful worldwide pharmaceutical companies, Paul is the managing partner of the company. Paul’s knowledge of the industry and his specialization in managed markets has allowed The Brooks Group to offer a unique portfolio of services to our clients. Not only has Paul assisted biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical equipment companies in achieving their goals, he has facilitated relationships among corporate leaders that have resulted in enhanced success. Paul has a degree in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky.

Dan Brooks Vice President and Partner

Dan joined The Brooks Group in 1999 as a Vice President and Partner. Dan is responsible for strategic planning, advocacy development and management, executive level presence, as well as account management for several key Brooks Group clients. In addition, he focuses on researching, forecasting, and presenting the significant impact information technology exerts on healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry.

Dan has direct experience in developing go-to-market strategies and implementation plans for a number of specialty drugs. Specifically, he has led projects in the transplant (nephrology), oncology, HCV, hematology, and osteoporosis markets; the latter including an in-depth analysis of the Federal prescription drug market for one of the largest pharmaceutical and consumer product companies in the world.

Beyond his go-to-market experience with specialty drugs, Dan has also facilitated strategic planning for five managed care companies as well as a retail pharmacy chain. He is intimately experienced with managed care companies’ critical business issues, their executive decision processes, and how they impact the prescription drug market.

Rob Freeberg Vice President and Partner

Rob joined The Brooks Group in 2004 as Vice President. Rob leads our Market Research practice and has extensive experience working with clients to develop unique and customized approaches to uncovering market and customer insights. In addition to quantitative and qualitative projects across many therapy areas, Rob is our primary advisory board facilitator and uses his extensive network and long-term relationships with managed care decision-makers to provide clients with high-value outcomes.

In addition to leading our Market Research practice, Rob is working closely with multiple clients on structures and processes designed to help them get closer to their customers. He has been instrumental in all facets of planning, designing, testing, and implementing these local market initiatives.

Prior to joining The Brooks Group, Rob was a national health systems director for Yamanouchi Pharma America (YPA). In this capacity, Rob was part of the team that was responsible for building the company’s strategic plan and introducing YPA to the U.S. managed markets and long-term care segments.

Wendi LeVigne Vice President

Wendi joined The Brooks Group in 2007 as Vice President. Prior to joining The Brooks Group, Wendi developed a diverse skill set over a successful 20-year career spanning from finance to pharmaceuticals in US and global markets. Wendi brings many successful years of brand and managed care experience to The Brooks Group, across a diverse product portfolio in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Her experience covers the complete spectrum in brand marketing at each stage of the product lifecycle. Wendi has also managed co-promotion partnerships, business development deal structures, and inter-company negotiations. In managed care, her experience includes account management, marketing, contracting, and reimbursement.

Raymond Co Vice President, Research and Assessment Programs

Raymond joined The Brooks Group in 1999 as Director of Research in order to expand the company’s consulting portfolio to include proprietary and syndicated market research services. Ray’s research efforts help The Brooks Group’s clients keep abreast of the prevailing and emerging trends in the U.S. healthcare marketplace and to understand how these trends significantly affect their business.

Raymond’s most recent research projects for The Brooks Group’s clients include: an assessment of healthcare market trends and their impact on physician medical groups; a forecast of large employer sponsorship of health and wellness programs; a comprehensive review of the private health insurance market and pharmaceutical distribution systems in Canada and Western Europe; an assessment of the business needs and challenges of academic institutions/teaching hospitals; and an evaluation of best practices in pre-marketing/pre-launch communications.

Raymond holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from Arizona State University. In addition to his position with The Brooks Group, Raymond is an adjunct faculty member in the School of Communication at San Diego State University. His teaching and research focus include persuasive communication, organizational communication, new media, and research design.

Karen Ernst Vice President of Market Research

Karen leads the East Coast operation of our market research practice. She interfaces directly with clients throughout the research process to ensure that their key business issues are addressed through The Brooks Group’s customized approach to each client. Karen also works on training and management consulting engagements, as they are often part of an integrated Brooks Group offering to our key clients.

Prior to joining The Brooks Group as Director of Market Research in 2006, Karen was the Director of Disease Management for Health Industries Research Companies (HIRC), a leading healthcare market research company specializing in managed healthcare and pharmaceutical marketing. Karen ran the company’s Health and Disease Management Service, which profiles pharmaceutical company health and disease management initiatives with significant managed care customers. Karen also provided primary research support to HIRC’s Best Programs and Best People service that profiles pharmaceutical company’s leading programs in managed care through case studies, in-depth analysis, and ratings. In 2006, Karen co-developed HIRC’s Medicare Disease Management Overview, a report which monitors key trends in the Medicare disease management and medication therapy management arenas.

Ryan Evans Vice President of Learning and Development

Ryan joined The Brooks Group in 2010 as Vice President. Ryan leads our Training and Development practice and brings extensive experience creating state-of-the-art training materials for all levels of managed markets representatives. In his previous position, Ryan trained more than 2,100 sales representatives, managers, hospital account managers, and account managers in managed care and soft skills.

Ryan has a strong background in the pharmaceutical industry and has in-depth understanding of managed markets. He began his career in territory sales with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and progressed from that position through the ranks, including Hospital Account Manager; District Manager; Senior Group Manager, Institutional Sales and Account Management Training; and Associate Director, Managed Markets Training. His experience includes the development of a continuous learning curriculum for the managed healthcare markets for Wyeth’s entire sales organization. He also developed a competency-based curriculum for the managed markets account managers.

Ryan has supplemented his experience with continuing education. He is a Certified Medical Representative (CMR), a Certified Pharmaceutical Manager, (CPM), and has earned his ROI Fundamentals certificate.

Ryan has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master of Business Administration from Washington State University.
